Let’s Groove! – Music Making and its Social-Emotional Benefits
Date & Time

Description

This presentation will provide a fun, engaging, wellness-based music experience, focused on live group music making and takeaways to utilize at home. The focus involved in playing music can occupy the mind and body, sometimes leaving very little room for tics and their premonitory urges to take over. This focus (or flow state) can be found in music and other activities that occupy the mind and body in creative ways. The session will include a brief intro and outro with information about music, rhythm and flow states. The rest of the session will focus mainly on music making, with drums, vocal/body percussion, voice, and more. Familiar songs and improvised music will guide and engage the group, switching between high energy and low energy music, discussing how one can utilize different energy levels via the flexible nature of music to help with tics.
